Why buy a tourist pass?
Why consider buying a tourist pass?
When you go on vacation to a medium-sized, well-known city, there are lots of things to do and see.
Museums, tourist attractions, excursions, organized tours, experiences that can greatly enrich your entire vacation, compared to simply exploring on your own.
All these "points of interest" are often expensive and have a significant impact on the vacation budget, as well as affecting the travel itinerary because you need to be able to devote the right amount of time and space to them.
This is where tourist passes come in handy.
City passes and cards open up a wealth of tourist opportunities and allow you to save money.
Let's take a look at the advantages of considering and, if it's right for you, purchasing a tourist pass.
INDEX
Buying a tourist pass: advantages
As mentioned in the introduction, a pass offers two main advantages: the first is that it increases tourist opportunities and makes visiting attractions more convenient, while the second is purely financial, as it allows visitors to save money compared to buying individual tickets.
Let's analyze them in detail.
The pass to see more things
As we saw on the page where I explain what a tourist pass is, there are different types of passes/cards. Some have a predefined list of attractions, while others are all-inclusive, allowing you to see pretty much everything the city has to offer.
In the latter case, there is a very interesting opportunity, and to explain it to you, I'll give you a practical example.
The public transport pass
Not in all cities, but quite often, public transport is also included in the cards, another service that is often used on vacation, and so its cost is offset by the purchase of the card.
Sometimes the tourist card does not directly include public transport, but having it allows you to get significant discounts on public transport tickets (subway, bus, trains).
The pass to save money
The city pass does not guarantee savings in 100% of cases, but very often you will find yourself in a situation where purchasing a pass allows you to save money compared to visiting by purchasing individual tickets.
The more you see, the more you save. Therefore, medium- to long-term stays are preferred, as there is more to see and therefore greater savings, but it is also true that the companies that create the passes have also designed affordable options for short vacations.
When is it worth it? the pass not is it worth it?
There are few cases, and I list them below as a guide:
- Extremely short vacation where you have very little time to explore.
- Choose to see special attractions, usually not included in passes
- choose a non-exploratory vacation, preferring to be outdoors rather than visiting tourist attractions (that's fine)
- It is not your first visit to that city; you have already seen the main attractions, so the pass is not useful to you because your vacation will not focus on museums and attractions.
- when you don't have a well-defined itinerary before departure. In this case, if you're just winging it, you can't choose a pass with the certainty that it will be useful because you don't know what you want to do.
In all other cases, it is quite certain that a pass allows you to enjoy benefits, economic and vacation comfort.
Buying a tourist pass: disadvantages
There are no major known disadvantages to buying a pass.
The worst situation is when you choose a pass without first understanding how it works and whether it really suits you.
In this situation it may happen that you do not find it useful, or even an unnecessary expense, but in this case the fault lies in the fact that you have purchased something that a priori you do not need.
This is precisely why passturistici.com was created: to help you understand the usefulness of a pass in your case, and above all, to choose the one that is right for you!
